Planning for Action

  • Revisit and refine what we care about and want to change.
  • Decide on options for action.
  • Get started by conducting research.
  • Decide what needs doing to improve the community.
  • Take a discovery walk in the building or community.
  • Interview community members.
  • Use a KWL approach to identify research questions:
    • What do we know?
    • What do we want to know?
    • What do we expect to learn?
  • Use what we learned to inform options for action.
  • Interact with speakers and community leaders.
  • Decide on one or more action projects that students will undertake.
  • Develop project plans, including timelines and resource needs.
  • Engage students in planning and leading project tasks.
